On Saturday 31 October, Rob van Someren and his team, together with Het Oranje Kruis, Schok en Pomp and Ambulance Amsterdam, will organise the seventh edition of Somertijd CPR Day. Hundreds of listeners will take CPR courses, while Marco Schuitmaker provides the musical entertainment and the Somertijd team broadcasts live from the venue. This year, the focus is on performing CPR within the family.
Today, it was announced during the Somertijd broadcast that Marco Schuitmaker will perform at CPR Day. “It is such a wonderful initiative, and I think it is very much needed in the Netherlands. I hear about it so often in my own surroundings, someone suffering a cardiac arrest. In those moments, it is reassuring to know that someone nearby knows how to perform CPR. I think it is great that you are doing this, and that I can contribute in some way,” says Schuitmaker.
Rob van Someren: “Every year, it is amazing to see how many listeners come to Somertijd CPR Day. This year, we are paying extra attention to performing CPR within the family. If someone you love suddenly needs help, you want to know what to do. That is why I hope this day will motivate as many people as possible to take a course as well.”
This year, Somertijd CPR Day will take place at the Tinfabriek in Naarden. Between 12:00 and 15:00, experienced volunteers from Het Oranje Kruis will provide basic CPR courses in three shifts. Participants will learn what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest and how to use an AED. 100% NL DJs Giorgio Hokstam, Ingrid Jansen and Erik van Roekel will also be there to take part in a course together with listeners.
Live radio
The Somertijd team will broadcast live between 12:00 and 15:00 from a temporary studio specially set up for the event. Radio DJ Jeske van Trigt will be there to report live. Alongside learning how to save lives, Van Someren and his team will create an enjoyable day filled with energy and music.
