Radio Veronica is back on track, with growth also expected for 100% NL, SLAM!, and Sublime in the second half of 2024

Mediahuis Radio is growing significantly in the second half of 2024 compared to the first six months. This is shown by the latest listening figures for the past year, which were announced on Wednesday afternoon. This also means that all the annual figures are now known. 2024 is the year in which Radio Veronica cautiously found its way back to the top, following the arrival of Wout & Frank and Gerard Ekdom. Radio stations 100% NL, SLAM! and Sublime also recorded impressive growth in the second half of the year compared to the first six months.

CEO Mediahuis Radio, Tom Klerkx: "After a challenging year with the redistribution of FM frequencies and the establishment of a completely new radio company, 2024 has been the year in which Mediahuis Radio stations have already demonstrated some of their potential. We have strengthened the programming of our stations and have also assembled a top team behind the scenes. Add to that the move to the brand-new radio wing at Mediahuis in Amsterdam, and we are more than ever ready for what the future holds!"

Radio Veronica doubles market share in the 20-59 age group

After a slow start to the year, Radio Veronica managed to achieve impressive growth in the second half of 2024. The arrival of Wouter van der Goes and Frank van 't Hof with their afternoon show “Wout & Frank” and later Gerard Ekdom with his morning show “Ekdom in de Morgen” laid a new foundation for Radio Veronica's goal of becoming a clubhouse for its listeners. In the broad target group of 13+, the market share rose from 1.99% in the first half to 3.55% in the second half of the year. In the 20-49 age group, the station's share rose to 3.29%, and in the 20-59 age group, it more than doubled: from 2.54% to 5.13%.

100% NL: 12% growth compared to 2023

The station with the most Dutch music in the country will grow by 12% in 2024 compared to 2023, when its market share in the 13+ target group was 3.22%. In 2024, that market share will be 3.61%. There will also be a clear upward trend in 2024 from the first to the second half of the year, when Rob van Someren joined the DJ team. The station recorded 3.73% in the broad target group in the second half of 2024. A nice increase can also be seen in the 20-49 age group. SLAM! holds its own even without an FM frequency

Although SLAM! lost its FM package during the frequency auction in September 2023, the station has managed to hold its own in 2024. After receiving the Marconi Award for best radio station in January, SLAM! also managed to exceed expectations. In the 20-49 age group, SLAM! scored 1.9% in the second half of the year, compared to 1.65% in the first half.

Sublime

Sublime remained stable in terms of market share in the 13+ target group in 2024 and recorded a nice increase in the 20-49 and 20-59 target groups. Towards the end of last year, Sublime's corporate identity and programming were revamped. The hope is that these additions will enable Sublime to record further growth in the coming period.
