Dutch hockey internationals Jip Janssen and Terrance Pieters are launching a new podcast together. In Helemaal Goed Joh, the friends take their listeners behind the scenes of top-level sport, where no taboo is left untouched.

In addition to hockey, Jip and Terrance are both active as social creators, with a large following on Instagram and TikTok. The new podcast is their first project as a duo.

From daily car ride to podcast

Jip and Terrance have become good friends through top-level sport. “We always drive back from training sessions and matches together. We talk about everything, from mental pressure to our love lives. Actually, nothing in our lives remains untouched, but we also laugh a lot together,” says Jip. “That's how the idea for the podcast came about,” adds Terrance. “We discuss things that don't come up in interviews, things you never really hear from top athletes. That's what's really interesting for the audience.”

An intimate “glimpse” behind the scenes of life as a top athlete

Helemaal Goed Joh is more than just a podcast of two friends talking about their sport. It touches on sensitive topics such as mental pressure in top-level sports, criticism from outsiders, and injuries. Of course, there is also laughter, and as a listener, you literally get to go into the locker room. What happens during an Oranje week? What is discussed on the massage table? What do Jip and Terrance eat before a match? What new music are they listening to?

Each episode also features a call with a guest who plays a role in the lives of Jip and/or Terrance. Sometimes it's their trainer or a top athlete from a completely different sport, other times it's their mother.

About the expression “Helemaal Goed Joh”

The name of the podcast is the expression that Jip and Terrance use for just about everything. With a wink, a bit of sarcasm, and above all, a lot of realism. It's their way of saying: it is what it is. That mix of humor in both the good and sometimes less good moments in life is therefore at the heart of this podcast.
