Autovisie Microcar Test 2025: Mobilize Duo wins as the smartest city solution

In the latest edition of Autovisie Magazine, the editors of Autovisie compare seven microcars and microbikes competing for the title of best new microcar. In a rapidly growing market segment that is partially replacing the normal small car, Autovisie examines how usable, comfortable, safe, and fun these mini-vehicles are in everyday traffic.

The winner of the test is the Mobilize Duo, which stands out as the best combination of usability and character with its compact size, unique design, smooth drive, and attractive price (starting at €10,695). The Fiat Topolino finishes second, thanks to its appealing appearance, effective minimalism, and competitive pricing.

“The Mobilize Duo shows that the microcar segment is coming of age,” says Autovisie editor-in-chief Jaco Bijlsma. "While the build quality of most models still leaves something to be desired, the Duo excels in design, good workmanship, and pleasant handling. Its short turning circle makes it ideal for city driving. It also holds its own outside the city, as it is available as an 80 km version for a modest additional charge."

The microcar as a replacement for the real car

Now that traditional city cars from the A segment are disappearing, the playing field is being cleared for new, smaller mobility solutions. Microcars fall under the L6e or L7e regulations, which means that some models can be driven from the age of 16 with an AM driver's license, while others require a B driver's license but can also reach speeds of up to 90 km/h.

The vehicles were tested in and around Amsterdam, with a focus on driving comfort, range, interior space, finish, price, performance, and usability in city traffic. The results can be found in Autovisie 15, now available in stores and online.
