The Netherlands is getting new national radio awards. The major radio groups DPG Media, Talpa Audio and Mediahuis Radio are joining forces for the Dutch Radio Awards. The awards show will take place on Tuesday 2 February 2027 at the DeLaMar Theatre in Amsterdam. During this evening-long event, AVROTROS will present the new Cristals for the first time across several categories.
In a joint statement, the parties involved said: “Even before the Gouden RadioRing came to an end, the commercial media companies and the NPO came together with one clear idea: radio deserves to be celebrated. We also believe it is important to have an annual moment when radio makers can meet each other. This will be bigger than ever, with our radio groups on board!”
Following the end of the Gouden RadioRing, the Netherlands will now have a new annual evening dedicated to radio and the people behind it. The media companies behind Qmusic and JOE (DPG Media), Radio 538, Radio 10, Sky Radio and Radio Noordzee (Talpa Audio), and Radio Veronica, 100% NL, SLAM! and Sublime (Mediahuis Radio) are joining forces to celebrate radio together. On 2 February, they will roll out the red carpet for an awards show showcasing everything that makes radio special: from music and entertainment to news, personal stories and listener interaction.
AVROTROS will organise the presentation of the new awards on behalf of the Dutch public broadcaster. The Cristals take their name from the radio crystal, a reference to the technology behind radio broadcasting. The awards will recognise outstanding achievements by radio makers and radio stations. Some Cristals will be awarded by a professional jury, while others will be decided by listeners. National radio stations that do not belong to the participating media groups will also be eligible for the awards. The award categories will be announced at a later date.
