Radio Veronica DJs Gerard Ekdom, Frank van der Lende, Rob Stenders and Giel Beelen are going away for a weekend with ten groups of friends.

Radio Veronica is organising the first 'National Friends Weekend' from 6 to 8 November. Ten groups of friends will win a fully catered stay at EuroParcs Hindeloopen. DJs from the station will be present throughout the weekend. They will organise activities and broadcast live from the location. Frank van der Lende announced the event on Monday afternoon during his programme.

In addition to Van der Lende himself, Gerard Ekdom, Wouter van der Goes, Frank van 't Hof, Niek van der Bruggen, Rob Stenders, Giel Beelen and Marisa Heutink will also be joining the weekend. The programme includes various activities, including a barbecue and a party night. The idea for the National Friends Weekend came about after Niek van der Bruggen discussed with listeners how difficult it can be to plan a weekend away with friends.

Frank van der Lende says: "Planning a weekend away with friends is always such a hassle. Going away together is great fun, but you keep searching for a date that works. There is always someone who cannot make it because it is their dog's birthday. So we decided to pick one weekend and officially declare it the National Friends Weekend."

Gerard Ekdom adds: “I am lucky enough to see a large part of my group of friends at work almost every day, because we are a close-knit team at Radio Veronica. With that same enthusiasm, we are happy to organise a friends weekend for our listeners. We are going to turn that holiday park upside down!"

Groups of friends can register via the Radio Veronica website and are asked to submit their group anthem, a song that is often played within their group. From Monday 26 October, Van der Goes and Van ’t Hof will play a song from one of the registered groups every day during their afternoon show Wout & Frank. That group will then have one minute to call the studio and win the weekend.
