Street soccer final on Dam Square: A day full of energy and togetherness
Last Saturday, Dam Square was the scene of something special: the final of the Cruyff Street League. The iconic square was temporarily transformed into a vibrant soccer field where young people from all over Amsterdam came together to show off their soccer skills. It was a unique atmosphere, with cheerful supporters on the sidelines, surprised tourists who stopped to watch, and proud family members cheering on their children.
“This is exactly what Johan had in mind,” headlined De Telegraaf, proud partner of this wonderful event. De Telegraaf has been involved in the street soccer tournament from the very beginning. Together with other parties, the newspaper was at the forefront of this initiative, with the aim of connecting Amsterdam's young people in a positive and sporting way.
Kamran Ullah, editor-in-chief of De Telegraaf: “It's great that, with the city's 750th anniversary, this tournament, which was organized by De Telegraaf for many years, is back and that we have been able to contribute to it. It is our gift to Amsterdam and hopefully it will be permanent.”
