88% of young people want to learn more about money: Rabobank and SPILNEWS launch Money Club

Today, SPILNEWS and Rabobank are launching Money Club: a social-first video series that follows young people in their search for more control over their money. In the series, they work together with a Rabobank expert on personal financial goals. From saving and budgeting to dealing with impulse spending, online temptations, and performance pressure. Money Club will be published as a longform series on YouTube, supported by short-form content on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. The series is hosted by TikTok creator Thibo Brockbernd.

Research conducted by SPILNEWS among 401 young people aged 18 to 24* shows a strong need to learn more about money matters. 88% of young people want to learn more about this topic, and 1 in 8 consider their own level of financial knowledge insufficient. At the same time, social media is playing an increasingly important role in how young people discover financial information: 61% see an informative video about money matters at least once a month, and for almost a quarter this happens weekly. Half of young people also say they find these videos interesting almost always or always.

At a time when buy now, pay later, online hustle culture, finfluencers, and constant comparison via social media have become part of young people’s daily lives, Money Club aims to make money matters easier to talk about in a way that feels recognisable and honest. Not preachy, but through personal stories, real situations, and practical insights. With Money Club, Rabobank wants to help young people become financially healthier by making knowledge accessible in the places where they spend time every day.

In Money Club, viewers follow several young people aged 18 to 24, all dealing with money in their own way. One wants to spend less and start saving, while another is looking for more balance, financial freedom, or a smarter strategy for the future. Together with host Thibo Brockbernd, an expert by experience, and a Rabobank expert, they explore how they can live a financially healthier life step by step.

Collaboration between SPILNEWS and Rabobank

The format was developed by SPILNEWS, the social-first journalistic brand for and by young people, in collaboration with Rabobank. The partnership combines SPILNEWS’ journalistic storytelling and platform expertise with Rabobank’s expertise in financially healthy living. The result is a format that reaches young people in their own world and gives them practical tools to make more conscious financial choices.

“Young people receive financial advice through social media every day, but much of it focuses on quick wealth, extreme lifestyles, or unrealistic expectations,” says Willem Bartelings, Chief Content at SPILNEWS. “With this series, we want to create space for honest conversations about money, making mistakes, and learning step by step how to deal with financial choices.”

“It is precisely through those honest conversations that space is created to learn and look ahead. As Rabobank, we want to be a guide in the financial growth of young people, by giving them insight and confidence and strengthening their financial resilience, so they can make their own choices. Money Club shows that financial health does not have to be perfect, but grows with every step you take, whatever your story may be.” says Maartje Gosselink, Lead Financially Healthy Living at Rabobank.

Watch the episodes on the SPILNEWS YouTube channel. Short formats, snippets, and additional content will be distributed via SPILNEWS’ social media channels: TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
