Radio station 100%NL sets record with more than 200 guests at the ‘Biggest Birthday Party’ ever
Radio station 100% NL has set the record for the largest birthday party ever. On Sunday, February 1, a total of 201 listeners gathered at the Midden Nederland Hallen in Barneveld to celebrate the station's 20th anniversary. This broke the previous record of 100 guests. The event was presented by 100% NL DJs Giorgio Hokstam, Ingrid Jansen, and Barry Paf.
During De Grootste Kringverjaardag ooit (The Biggest Birthday Party Ever), the 200 100% NL listeners in attendance were treated to performances by Frans Duijts and Effe Serieus, known for their party hit “Baila De Gasolina,” and traditional birthday snacks. Oos Kesbeke provided the pickles, Old Amsterdam supplied the cheese, and Heel Holland Bakt judge Robèrt van Beckhoven made the birthday cakes.
Morning show DJs Giorgio Hokstam and Ingrid Jansen look back on a successful day and react to the record achieved:
Giorgio Hokstam: “I was a little nervous. The current record holder was also present, of course, and she had indicated in advance that she would do her best to sabotage the event. Fortunately, she didn't succeed! I am incredibly proud of 100% NL and our lovely listeners, because without them, this would not have been possible.”
Ingrid Jansen: “I wasn't sure what to expect, except of course that we wanted to break the record. We succeeded! I can only say that the atmosphere was so incredibly good. It was really a party.”
Giorgio wonders whether they will be celebrating again in five years' time, when the station celebrates its 25th anniversary: “Shall we do it for 300 listeners then?” Whether that will happen remains to be seen. Ingrid is enthusiastic in any case: “I'm up for it!”
The Biggest Birthday Party kicks off a series of anniversary activities that 100% NL is organizing this year to celebrate its 20th anniversary. On the 20th of every month, listeners can look forward to a gift, event, or other surprise. July marks exactly 20 years since 100% NL was first heard on Dutch radio.
