Corporate responsibility is part of our strategy.
Improving environmental performance
Mediahuis cherishes sustainable relationships. Including those with the environment. The most important raw materials Mediahuis uses are energy and paper. That is why, when improving its environmental performance, Mediahuis focuses on energy reduction, CO2 reduction and the use of sustainably certified paper.
Within Mediahuis, the ISO14001 environmental management system was introduced in 2016 and the corresponding certification obtained. Mediahuis’ print shop consistently meets the criteria required for this certification. The criteria include controls to prevent potential environmental risks, control of all relevant environmental aspects and compliance with all legal obligations.
Mediahuis strives to do business responsibly. Mediahuis expects the same commitment from its partners and suppliers. Mediahuis prefers to build sustainable relationships for the longer term. Responsible purchasing is therefore an integral part of the policy, with corresponding internal process agreements.
Within the focus of Mediahuis’ responsible business policy, consideration is given to environmental, human and financial aspects. This is the basis of the criteria that are taken into account in the purchasing processes. Mediahuis expects every supplier to comply with at least the obligations arising from national and international laws and regulations. Mediahuis uses a Supplier Code of Conduct. Every supplier wishing to do business with Mediahuis must sign this code of conduct. The code contains provisions on, for example, the conscious handling of waste and emissions, protection of the environment and forced and child labour.
