While temperatures are dropping towards freezing point this week, Radio Veronica DJs are walking around in shorts. This week, they are playing a game in which their shorts are getting shorter and shorter. To raise awareness for children with cancer, Gerard Ekdom and sidekick Max Schuiling from the morning show will be competing against each other and against Wouter van der Goes and Frank van 't Hof from the afternoon show. The goal is to have the longest pants at the end of the week.

Gerard Ekdom, team Ekdom in de Morgen: “Ultimately, you hope that every child with cancer can be cured. To draw attention to everything KiKa does, we're going to walk around in increasingly shorter pants this week.”

Wouter van der Goes, Team Wout & Frank: “I'm curious to see what people will think when they see me at the supermarket, but of course it's for a good cause.”

On Monday, the DJs will start with long pants, but during the week, these will become shorter and shorter. Every day, Gerard and Max and Wouter and Frank will play the “Short Pants Quiz” in their program. They will be given an approximation question. The number of centimeters they are off the correct answer is the number of centimeters that will be cut off their pants. At the end of the week, the results are tallied during the afternoon show. The team that loses the fewest centimeters wins. On Friday afternoon, the amount raised by the Kika Korte Broek campaign is also announced.

KiKa Korte Broek is an annual campaign by Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij (Children Cancer-Free Foundation), conceived in 2020 by Pim (then 11 years old) for his friend Rein, who was ill at the time. Since then, people have been wearing shorts to raise awareness and money for children with cancer and for research.

KiKa Korte Broek takes place from December 15 to 19.
